Café de Americas
A full-bodied cup layered with notes of chocolate puddin’, caramel, toffee, and hazelnut. Café de Americas placed one of the best in Golden Bean North America's coffee roasting competition in the "espresso in milk" category.
Origin Story
When Deb and Jim founded RH in 2010, she had an obsession with creating a blend that teleported her back to Italy. After six months of tasting a variety of origins, we arrived at this classic balance between origin and roast. While most Italian espresso blends use Robusta (a species of coffee grown at lower-elevations), we committed ourselves to only offering Arabica, the brother species of Robusta that offers much more complex flavors. We put our developments to the test against the Italian classics and on the cupping table Café de Americas stood out from among the rest unanimously.
This year consists of two brand new relationships in Honduras and Peru. Honduras COMICOVEL as a cooperative is the product of Catholic Relief Services’ Blue Harvest Project, which improves agroforestry management on farms throughout Central America. To date, Blue Harvest has helped 1400 producers transform their farms into ecosystems that protect the forest and its freshwater sources. Peru Churupampa is a collaborative project created by the Tacto Bermeo family in 2011 with the goal of becoming a self-sustaining farm. From handling their own exporting to building a cooperative of 28 producing families, they are known for producing beautiful washed processed coffees.
