Cocoa Toffee Caramel
In our first few months of business, Deb (Owner-Boss-Lady-Coffee-Goddess) had an obsession with creating a blend that teleported her back to Italy. After six months of tasting a variety of origins, making a maddening amount of roast adjustments and too many long days of over-caffeination, we arrived at this classic balance between origin and roast. While most Italian espresso blends use Robusta (a species of coffee grown at lower-elevations), we committed ourselves to only offering Arabica, the brother species of Robusta that offers much more complex flavors. We put our developments to the test against the Italian classics and on the cupping table Cafe de Americas stood out from among the rest unanimously.
Toffee Aroma, Caramel Acidity, Cocoa Body with notes of Chocolate and sweet Dried Banana. Most often people associate this coffee with pudding, which at its finest is balanced between sweet and savory. This cup embraces that balance, welcoming aromas of toffee which hide an intriguing undertone of dried banana. The first sip is reminiscent of caramel in body and aroma, with a pronounced sweetness leading way to a cocoa-like body that carries right through the finish. An absolute winner among those who enjoy balance.
