Colombia Santa Maria
As a women-owned and founded business, supporting other women throughout the supply chain is remarkably important to us. We believe in equity for all- and not in the bullshit-cheesy-business-bro type of way. Our green buying team actively seeks out women-led initiatives within the communities we buy from, like Santa Maria, to integrate more of our buying power into equitable projects around the globe.
We were originally introduced to La Pradera in 2018 with their mega rare Mokka variety (the itty bitty one). La Pradera Hacienda Cafetera is a family owned and operated farm in Aratoca, Santander, Colombia by Oscar and Mildred Daza.
Mildred Daza launched the Santa Maria project, runs administration and leads the women’s coffee project, where a group of 22 women, all heads of household, together operate the farm.
We source coffees from both La Pradera and Santa Maria every year because we believe in the push for mind-blowing single varieties they produce, their commitment to caring for the planet, and the wonderful humans in their community. Thanks to Ally Coffee Importers, their green buyer Elena, and all the amazing actors throughout this small supply chain we are able to continue working with them.
Castillo variety is grown in the Santander region of Colombia at about 1,800 meters above sea level before being processed using the washed method.
